My Best Friend Says I Look Drunk...

in this picture. That's because I was....or well on my way.

Saturday night, after killing a perfectly good iPhone, we had friends over for a pasta making dinner. From semolina flour to the table. We started from scratch and ended up with honestly the best pasta I've ever put in my mouth!

It started off kinda rough. I wasn't sure that we'd end up with anything at all the way things looked in the beginning. The dough was too dry. It was a pain in the ass to knead for 15 minutes by hand. Then it had to rest for 2o minutes in the fridge. Hell, after all that kneading, WE needed the rest!

When things looked like they were going to really work, I whipped up some Wild Mushroom Vodka Sauce for the fettucini and some Browned Butter Balsamic Sauce for the Caramelized Butternut Squash and Parmesan Ravioli. Yeah, it was fabulous.

But what really made the dinner wonderful was the amazing friends that love to laugh and cook. Looks like we'll be taking that pasta machine to their condo on the beach in April, because frankly, we ROCK at making pasta and getting smashed!

P.S. Yes, that's my circa 1985 log cabin kitchen with the Z cabinets. Pray that I win a kitchen makeover!

Last time I made fresh pasta my friend and I both drank the entire time because it was very time consuming.

Ahhh Lynn. Nice to see you! Personally, I love the cabinets. But I'm a fan of vintage.
Cheers!

Heck you have to sample the wine to go with dinner. And the Vodka could have gone bad if you did not check it out. And you worked so hard and deserved just on lil ol drink.

LOL

Hm.. Happy and exited might I say?

What is shown of the kitchen looks nice, but 24 years will leave some wear an tear..
Ours is most likely over 30 years and definitely has problems with the work top and for us it is too low.
unfortunately we will have to safe some more before we can install a new kitchen.

What a blast. If I'd have had that party, I would have had to ban wine until that pasta was done, or we'd all have quit and ordered pizza half-way through!

If someone asked me what my idea of a perfect night with friends is, it would be the evening you just wrote about. Wow. Awesome. Wine, pasta making and friends.

Btw, I'm invited to a "pasta from scratch" dinner tomorrow evening, a first for me...so I'm glad I stopped by here first. My mouth is watering already!

I don't think you look drunk at all... But if those bottles are any indication. ;)

I love the amount of counter space you have. Hoop and I have a galley kitchen. We litterally bump elbows if we try to take a different side at the same time.
