Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia

I lost my words to this post. But since everyone says that this one needs no words, I shall leave it as is. Any questions? Ask away. Otherwise, enjoy the photos and click to enlarge them.

Jahooni: No, I've been back for a few weeks. It's just taken me a while to get all the pics up.

Savant: Thanks...glad I could remind you of somewhere so lovely!

Words? How about: If I thought I'd never get to see another market like thatpiled high with incredible, colorful and indescribably smelling foods, or a market full of interesting and awesomely creative items like are in your pictures, I'd just sit here and cry.
Of course, sometimes, when I've been in markets like that, knowing that I couldn't fill up a bunch of bags and take it all home to cook, I've felt like crying.

Who needs words with pics that beautiful? The thing I keep seeing, again and again, are the vibrant colors - of the landscape, the villages and the people. Makes me feel so black and white!

Like Dana, the amazing colors are what keep popping out at me too.

An idea for your words. I generally compose what I'm going to say in MS Word then copy and paste into blogger. I like the grammer and spell check better with that program and as an added bonus I always have a copy in a secondary file.

Those peeled oranges remind me of a time when I was at a remote archeological site in Oaxaca, Mexico.
I was coming down with a cold virus and began feeling very very weak. It was about 105° out in the sun. My companion went ahead to explore some stuff and left me sitting under the shade in a picnic area where an old Indigenous woman and her beautiful daughter were selling big juicy fresh picked peeled oranges. I crawled over and bought one. Then I crawled over and bought another one and then another. . . all the while, the young woman and I were giggling and flirting with each other (in that coy innocent way that Mexican women flirt) despite the fact that I felt and looked like I was on death's door.
When I went for the 4th one, the old woman came over, looked me over very carefully through her old squinting and declared that I was not to eat another orange. She reached down into a cooler and pulled out a pewter pitcher and poured me a big glass of orange juice and said "drink, drink." I don't know if it was plain orange juice or had somethiing else in it, but it immediately made me feel like new. When I proclaimed how wonderful her product was, she stood there smiling as proud as anyone I ever saw. Then she shoooed me away from her daughter. I'll never forget those two angels.

My kids claim I'm afraid of fruit...since they never see me eat any. I think I would be eating that fruit all the time. It looks so much better that the anemic looking stuff in the grocery store.

The fruit and the baby. The fruit made me drool, I could almost taste it on my lips. The baby made me smile, until I realized her mother was begging. Then I wanted to cry. Look at the expression of love and joy and that child's face. Innocence in a nutshell. My womb is crying.
