Maine In August

At the end of the summer, my girl and I will be heading to Maine for our vacation. I want to go kayaking in Acadia National Park.

I want to see the puffins if they're still there when we are around the 18th and we're going to a ginormous blueberry festival in Machias, ME.

My question to you is....do you know of anything else we should do? We're flying in to Providence on the 14th and heading to Boston to spend the night at the Westin (let me just say that Hotwire.com ROCKS!) Then to Boothbay, ME to spend two nights at The Thistle Inn.

After that...we're free-ballin' it! Anybody got some cool things to do on our way back down to Providence?

P.S. As for the pity-party post about how I hate my job, I took it down. Too negative. Instead of being pissy, I'm looking for things to look forward to and ways to change my current situation. So if you know anyone looking for a Real Live Lesbian with a great cherry bra...let me know. ;)

If I've told you once, I've told you a gazillion times, I'm right down the road. Cherry and lavendar bras and a nice bottle of wine are a-waitin!

I could spend an entire day listing things to do with you in that cherry bra!

As far as Maine goes I haven't a clue, never been there.

Stephen King lives there, you could find his house and do a "ring and run" *giggle*

I used to nanny out in East Blue Hill, Maine. We lived right on the coast and could swim with seals every day if we wanted to. You can watch dolphin's jumping at dusk and in the morning. It's a beautiful, beautiful state. There are loads to do if you want to get on the ocean or go beach walking. Also, take some time to be still on the beach - it's well worth it. It's not sand - as you can see it's rock, but still gorgeous.

Loads of little towns with fantastic shops, galleries and grocery. Oh(!) the lobsters are cheap, fresh and fabulous! I guarantee that you will never ever eat a restaurant bought one again - or if you do it just doesn't stand up to real live lobsters from Maine. Scrumptious!

We used to go to Blueberry Hill and pick our own berries for jam, pancakes and fresh blueberries!

You're making me miss Maine. . . How fun for you 2! I always wanted to find Mr. S. King, but I wouldn't run, I'd stay and talk and talk and talk and talk and talk. . . . but I'm a nuisance, so. . . .

Love your time there - it's a fantastic place!

P.S. I know you took the post down, but I love, love, LOVE what I do now. Follow your heart - it'll get you there some day too. Just look at this as time spent to get to where you want to be.

Hugs

In Boothbay take the two hour senic sail on the Schooner "Appledore" with Herb Smith. [a friend] He might not still be sailing himself, but any one in Boothbay will tell you, it's a must do to sail out of Boothbay!
There's so much, I can't type all that!!

Camden and Rockport were my old hangouts. Boats and Ocean and Rock!

Old Port in Portland on a weekend night is the hot spot. Get a room and walk the walk of Old Port.

South of Portland to Portsmouth NH try to drive route 1A as much as possible and some places 1B always heading south. You might like the little town of Ogunquit [gay community]just north of Portsmouth.

Strawberry Banks[historic houses] in Portsmouth is worth a stop and again south on 1 and
1A or 1B through Massachusetts is the drive to take. You can always get back to Int. 95 if your running out of time.
Dang, my longest comment ever!!!!
It's my old stomping grounds.

My girl used to live in Providence, so I'll ask her about things to do around there. She's always sayin' how badly she wants to take me there and that it's an amazing, beautiful place.

Oh my goodness! So much to do in that neck of the woods!

In Bar Harbor, ME, the Bar Harbor Inn for any meal, an overnight (stay in the main building if you can) or spa treatment after rafting. There's also a neat bookstore; great funky shops; and an internet cafe for good coffee and a computer fix.

For Providence, check out http://www.edgeprovidence.com/ Just about everything that's great about Providence will be there. Not everything...but just about! Also, the river fire isn't to be missed. So beautiful.

In Boston, Club Cafe is a great little restaurant/club in walking distance from the Westin. The Machine is good for dancing. Restaurants and cafes in the South End (also in walking distance of the Westin.)

I could go on and on but I'll leave it at that. ENJOY!

Can I just come along? I have always wanted to got to Maine....you know what I am going to ask for though, don't you????

As for the other post, I caught it in my reader so I read it and I want to say, being a mom is doing what I most want to do, and that means sacrifices galore for us. My dream job...maybe own a bookstore/coffee shop someday.

I've never been across the 'pond' so I have no idea what else you could do, but what you have planned sounds great, can't wait to hear all about it. :)

In Maine I would spend most of my time sitting around and watching the ocean. Then I would spend a lot of time eating lobster and clams and other seafood. If I have any free time I would rent a convertible and drive around looking at more scenery.
