Keep Gays Out of the Classroom

Just in case they might MAKE children gay.

Next time I hear this, I'd like to introduce "them" to my parents.

My straight parents. Who are conservative. Who raised me well. Taught me right from wrong. Expected me to get good grades. Who didn't even KNOW any homosexuals.

And yet, THEY couldn't make ME straight.

So WHY do they need to keep gay's out of the classroom?

What exactly are they teaching that sexuality comes into it at all???

I hear it all the time too. It's pure stupidity. Even for a group of people who aren't all that bright to begin with.

On top of all the other comments you have received, and will receive, I wanted to add that I just snort when I here my older right-wing friends say "There weren't any gays when I was growing up, that's what's wrong with America"!

Yes! This needs to be a full page ad posted in every small town American newspaper. To make the same point, I can't wait for the wave of straight kids raised by gay parents.

Well...hangs head...only a short time ago I would have agreed with this. Thanks to this blog and a couple of people I have met I have had a complete 180 turn around in what I believe in about the last year.
A real ephinay kind of thing about gay people. I am ashamed . But it's never too late is it?

When this comes up (I'm a teacher) I always snort and ask the person who is pontificating if they want to talk about the heterosexual teachers who have been charged with having sexual relations with their students -- Mary Kay LaTourneau, et al. On another tact, am I going to make my students fat just because I am? Give me a break..............

It's just nuts, isn't it? As if gayness is infectious. As if gays aren't just like everyone else. So much for not reinforcing the taboo.

I am a weird one...I wouldn't think twice about a gay man or woman teaching in my school. BUT two teachers in our elementary school have gotten pregnant on purpose before marriage this year and that bothers me a bit. Maybe I am not quite as liberal as I thought....hmmmm.

Great point you raise RLL. I hate stupidity and certainly shouldn't be in the schools.

I read in a science magazine years ago that there was a study done around the WWII years. The birth of gays rose at the beginning of the war and dropped of at the end. Their conclusion was that pregnant women under stress while pregnant exposed the fetus to more testosterone thus raising the chance of the child being born gay. Now think about how much stress a women is exposed to when living with a tunnel vision granite head conservative male at any period of time.

One more thing to look at that is interesting is the "2:4 digit ratio" (copy and google). The higher it is the higher your chance of being gay amoung other things.

BTW I love that picture. It's been in my collection for awhile along with the rainbow stocking girl.

just a thought here, and I have no way to know if this would be the case or not but it would seem to me that depending on the extent of the exposure by the teachers that it might cause more of a negative attitude toward the gay students from the straight ones.

I mean I have been a 12-13-14-15-16-17-18- year old straight jock ungay person before and that type of guy is not all that forgiving, as a rule.

Just a thought.
