I Have A New....

Neighbor.

He moved in a few days ago. I assume he's a boy because he drives a truck. Quite sterotypically minded of me, isn't it?

Anyway, I'd like to go over. Say hi. Take him a little something to welcome him to our new neighborhood.

But what?

I've struggled with it. Homemade brownies? Cookies? What if he's diabetic? Doesn't like chocolate? What if he's got high blood pressure? No pretzels.

I have a few things put together for him.

Here's hoping he's always wanted a lesbian neighbor.

LOL...he's going to think he died and went to heaven...and not because of the brownies, cookies or whatever. ;)

Cherry pie. Most definately.

Make him (or her) a loaf of pumpkin bread (minus any nuts, just in case of allergies), wrap it in foil and put a ribbon and bow around it. That way you don't have to worry about getting your pan back and they don't have to make sure they wash the pan within an inch of its life because its a major faux pas to return such a thing with even a micro-bit of a mark on it. (which may have been there since the Kennedy era for all you know). If your neighbor is diabetic or allergic...well you still get major points for trying. You're SUCH a good neighbor to want to do something nice like this. Too many people are so self-involved now, they don't even think of it. Kudos to you.

Go preach the word of the Lord at him. That's what my neighbors did at my last place. I prefer my new neighbors who just left me the hell alone.

Or you could give him tinfoil. Nobody has a problem with that.

I'm sure he will be thrilled to have a neighbor with such a beautiful heart!

If he's diabetic just send the brownies my way...k.

Happy Halloween, Sugar.

Keep it simple, and the least you'll get back is a simple smile and thank you.

Hard to imagine anyone not responding to *your* smile.

When we moved in here, our neighbors (who we knew before we even moved) brought over a grocery bag filled with a loaf of bread, lunch meats and cheese and paper plates, plastic utensils, napkins, chips, plastic cups and a bag of ice. She figured we'd be living in a mess of boxes and not set up to cook right away and she was right!

I really cannot top the suggestions that have already been give.I hope that you have a great neighbor that is open minded.

I think something personnel is always nice. But he probably buys his own brand of jock-itch medicine, so don't go with that.

The fact that you're willing to go out of the yard and say hello is a boon.
"Won't you be my neighbor"...please?

Sometimes just a get-to-know-you talk helps. How about inviting your neighbor for a cup of coffee? Or a trip to the local neighborhood deli, the good one so he knows which??
I so LOVED my old neighbor for showing me a place called Charlene's--made it so easy to get a good breakfast for the first few weeks. Unpacking is a pain! ;)

lol i would so no to the tin foil or wrapped in alumninum. of course i am allergic to it so that is the oddity there.

new neighbor too cool invite them to an evening of porch sitting and tea drinking get to know each other

here i also take a folder containing a local map, the lastest local newspaper, listing of the things to do in the area, menus of resturants and a welcome to the spot card.

I have to say that the Cherry Pie sounds like a winner to me also.

Good for you! When I lived in japan, I observed their tradition of giving simple food gifts to all new neighbors - it really started things off on the right foot.

And I bet he's always wanted a gorgeous lesbian neighbor! It's his lucky day :)

I'm sure whatever you take over as a welcome gift he'll be bowled over by you. :)

I love that you are the "welcome wagon" type of neighbor. So few of those anymore...

Cherry pie from you in the kitty costume (from your last post) would be a warm welcome. How can he not love you??

...If I moved in someplace and somebody brought me ANYHTING I would be having the cockles of my heart warmed...but chocolate chip cookies would be especially nice...

When my neighbor first moved in 5 years ago, my boxer girl bit him. I should of know then he was to be a redneck jackass.

Who doesn't want a lesbian neighbor? I think I would go with a good old fashioned 6 pack. Let us know how it goes!

I always liked giving something simple - a small plant...I also like ETW's suggestion...basics that people end up not having when they move in.

But just a smile and a howdy neighbor is a wonderful thing...when I moved into my apartment down here, not one neighbor said a word - but I think that is basically apartment living

I bet he will LOVE the idea!

Quick story. A guy here at work lives next to two lesbians. One day he was outside messing with the mower and he said they NEVER shut their blinds or curtains. He kept looking over there and then one of the ladies stood in front of the window nakes while the other rubbed lotion on her. Then they laughed, waved at him, and left the window.

His daughter had gone outside and saw him staring at those ladies and she ran in and told her mother "Dad was watching those naked lesbians in the window!"

He said his wife yelled and screamed and cussed him and wouldn't talk to him for two days.

I laughed my ass off when he told us this story.
