Cheap Ass

Although I'm one of the lucky ones that still has a job, it's crossed my mind that I could become amongst the jobless. I work in construction and right now, in TN...it sucks. Our company has one meager project and nothing on the books after that.

Which is why lately, I've been trying to cut back. Find ways to save and make a few extra bucks.

I've been cruising the coupon sites. And finding some mighty cool stuff....

There's a free RoastBurger from Arby's (you've gotta buy a drink)!
A buy one, get one free sundae from Baskin Robbins. Click here.
The spend $25, get $5 off from Rite Aid. Click here.
There's a free fry and drink coupon for Jack In The Box.

Sadly, none of these are helping my ass get smaller.

My latest obsession is Swag Bucks. It's a search engine powered by google, but every time you search you can win 1, 2, 5, or up to 100 Swag Bucks and then trade them in on tons of cool prizes . I've been using it for about two weeks and am well on my way to a $5 Amazon.com gift card. Not much....but I don't have to do anything different and I like getting something for nothing.

You can search for Swag Bucks on their blog or on their Facebook page. And I may have done that on my breaks about a zillion times.

If you're so inclined, check it out here: Swagbucks.com

Y
eah, they give you a little referral bonus. How's that for being upfront? If you wanna try it and don't want to give me a referral, no biggie. I just think it's fun to use their search feature and get free stuff for doing what I do anyway.

Do you know of any cool free stuff? Cuz I'm just. that. cheap!

I always use couplons if they're available - why not? Look after the pennies and the pounds will take care of themselves my Granny use to say.

This is my favorite site for all things cheap.http://www.volition.com/

Since I have been out of work I am doing some mystery shop jobs around town. Doesn't pay a lot, but I eat out for free 2-3 times a week. I'd be glad to share the information on getting started.

im not too good with coupons, but i love finding things in bargain stores and refinishing furniture and turning stuff into other stuff... right now im redecorating my bathroom for spring and i thnk the whole redo is going to cost me less than $100. i think of bargain shopping like hunting - my best score so far was a 675$ king size quilt for 67.50 at a closeout store!!!!

Hey, this swag thingy sounds okay! And I'm all about referrals, so I'm going to go check it out. I still have my job but it is scheduled to end July 31 unless they need me longer. Which is fine with me. I don't know of any good free stuff yet, but if and when I find it, I will definitely share. I don't even see it as being cheap anymore; I see it as being smart!

Thanks for your kind words and support; I know I've commented here a few times, and have lurked on and off for even longer. Your words are appreciated!

I think I can find a way for you to make some money if you and your friends are willing to dress as Asian schoolgirls.

Have you ever checked out mypoints.com? It's this kick ass site that sends you e-mails and give you points for every e-mail you click on the link. Then you rack up the points and turn them in for free gift cards to awesome places. You can also shop through their site and get points. I just got 3 points per dollar just for buying my new laptop!

And I, too can get referral points...so, send me an e-mail at jayden_butterfly@yahoo.com with your e-mail address and I will hook you up!

I checked out swagbucks too just recently. Don't have much but it builds. Have you looked into PayPerPost or Blogsvertise?

Hey, I am with you on the job front. I'm in construction in Atlanta and it's the same. My job basically ends when my contract is up in May unless we have anything new come in. Hang in there!
Have you checked out restaurants.com? They recently had $25 coupons for $2 on there!

Our radio stations always offer gift card to places for half -price, not like eating out is cutting back, but cool nonetheless. I rack up rewards points too paying bills with credit card then paying off the credit card monthly. Coupons rock too. I sa on Today show today this lady used coupons on double coupon day, shopping only the ad paper and paid a freakin quarter for her groceries! Un-freakin believable but a fun "game" to play when you go shopping. lol I'm a fan of free events in town and love Goodwill...And THE BEST for last: check out Freecycle. It's awesome you post the junk you don't want in your house and people that want it come get it and you get to do the same!

You can check out bartering sites in your area too. If you work construction you probably have skillzzz

Make you a deal -- you get laid off, and I'll go sign up for Swag Bucks and give you the referral. And I'll try to get other people to do the same thing.

My job is fine (my boss says) but day by day I'm watching our bank accounts get lower and lower. I wish some of our freaking payables would come in the door, before I have a stroke from the stress.

Clearly you're not stingy, which is a bad thing. As far as I'm concerned, cheap = smart. In this economy, who can afford not to be. And if you can, God bless you. I hope BHO doesn't "stimulate" you all the way to the poor house.

I try to weight the cost of printer ink versus the cost of the item I'm getting for 'free'. Printer ink/paper...everything we do in life is a choice. lol
but thanks for the links. I'm wondering about that Arby's coupon: does it print out that BIG? And, I recycle printer paper: will they accept it with something ELSE on the back?
LOL!!!

I'm gonna go look at this right now!

Okay, I signed up, but it never asked me who referred me. Did I do something wrong?

With times as tough as they are, I too have been cutting back. I've found now that I don't carry plastic, I keep all my change. If something is 2.02, I'll pay 3.00 and pocket the 98 cents then go home and dump it in a jar. Last month alone I saved 34.75 just in change. What an easy way to save! And thanks for the coupon links!
