Dirty Little Girl

When I saw the images of Bettie Page today in stories of her passing, it brought back a memory. My mother was always a snooper, so I come by it quite honestly. While looking for something else, I found a shoe box in the guest bedroom. I was around 12 years old. The perfect age for curiosity to get the best of me.

Inside were postcards, pictures and tiny little calendars with girls on them. Pictures very similar to the one above. Some naked. Some scantily clad. All of them were gorgeous. Nothing like I'd seen before.

I would sneak down that box and look whenever I was left alone in the house. My mother had kept the calendar because it was full of dates that she had been on when she was single.

What a feast for the eyes. Rest in peace, Bettie.

Oh my god! I was such a snooper too! My parents had "The Joy of Sex" and I used to sneak it out of the hope chest, where it was tucked away under a blanket, every time I was left alone.
I was terribly sad to hear of Betty's passing. She was/is an icon and I'll always have a bit of a crush on her.

I was a snooper too. Never found anything other than a few copies of Cosmopolitan magazine though. Boring house. LOL

I snooped too.

I found a "JOINT" that my Mom had!

I couldnt believe it!

I kept going back and checking to see if and when she smoked it!

But she never did...

So, one day when I was in my 30's I questioned her about it! She got SO embarrassed and SWORE it wasnt hers! Said someone gave it to her and she didnt know what to do with it!

Yeah, ok Ma.

I saw the news on another blog recently, I'd never heard of Betty before that. She was a beauty no mistake.

I watched one of the Indie Sex segments on IFC (Independent Film Channel...total gem in the rough in the vast wasteland of cable!) and Bettie Page never considered what she did as "dirty" or anything...she did what she loved doing and she made that very accessible to the public. Kudos to the lady who thrusted BDSM into the consciousness of the mainstream.

I was watching Sugar last night on Survivor ...a beauty that calls back to the time of ms paige ....beauty and honesty ...and honesty is a powerfully erotic thing.

bettie was one of a kind

I was always the snoop out of all the siblings - unfortunately with my parents the stuff we found was probably better off let alone

I hadn't heard about Bettie's passing. A sad day.

She was good looking broad. They don't make pinup girls like they used to.

I always feel a bit sad when I hear of the passing of someone who was "historical". She was, in many ways, a pioneer.

may she rest in peace .

That "pin up" beauty is amazing. I wish more of us looked like that today.

There is nothing like the passing of a beautiful woman to bring a tear to your eye...or mine...God Speed...As for you beautiful lady...didnt we all have those treasure troves? ;-)

I've got an idea here..

For a nice montage, you should pose in some of Bettie's best-known photos, and post them..

It'd make for an awesome HNT series, if anything!

Omg, my Mom was a total snooper! But in a weird "I want a reason to punish you" way. Not the fun way, like THIS one!

I snooped too. Not much to report because my parents didn't keep secrets. So they said.

Yeah I was sad to hear of her passing. I'm sure though, that every little goth clone girl with that hairdo have had a candlelight vigil in her honor too.

RIP Betty! She was great.

I hope it's not disrespectful, but thinking of her brings the words "Hubba Hubba" to mind. She had "it."

I was (and still am) a snoopy sista... I don't mean to be... genetic disorder.

My daughter has a gorgeous poster of Betty in her room.
