Brunch, Bloody Marys and Football

Above, you'll see the pile of wood that is severely diminished after yesterday's brunch. Last week, I decided to invite some friends over for Brunch, Bloody Marys and Titans Football. It always starts out as just a few people and ends up a crowd because I forget to count us. I'm simple that way.

Yesterday, I hosted a sit-down brunch for nine of my favorite women.

The menu:
Spinach & Shallot Quiche with Tarragon and Thyme
Smoked Ham and Broccoli Quiche
Eggs Benedict with Homemade Hollandaise Sauce (aka What The Hell Was I Thinking)
Double Blueberry Mini Muffins with Tangerine Glaze
Cinnamon Flop (my love made this with her great grandmother's recipe)
Thick Smoked Bacon
Herb Roasted Red Potatoes
Fruit Salad

I was up at 5:30am cooking and made everything, except for the blueberry muffins. A girl's gotta get some help when she can. I used the box, but I did make the Tangerine Glaze.

Since we were all in such a deep food coma, we totally forgot to take any pictures. Just imagine a bunch of stuffed lesbians sitting around in front of a roaring fire watching the Titans game.

We ended the day with Hot Oatmeal Craisin Cookies for dinner, because my best friend had a craving. I love my friends and I love feeding them. And yesterday, I loved football for a little while, too! How could I not? We're 10-0!!

I'm also one who loves her friends/family through cooking.

I would like to talk about how happy I am that the Titans are 10-0, but the fact that I dropped Justin Gage from my fantasy team because I thought he would never get healthy is overriding my happiness still. ;-)

I almost had a food-gasm when I got to bacon!

Go Titans :) Speaking of football another historic event, the Eagles/Bengals game was the first time in NFL history that the score was 11 to 10. (according to my boss anyway).

Sounds like a truly awesome day. Feel free to invite me to the next one :)

OMG...you are making me feel SO inadequate, b/c all I made yesterday was a pumpkin pie. Fail.

However, GO TITANS! They used to be my favorite team, the Houston Oilers - so I gotta cheer them on!

Another game ended in a tie yesterday - don't think that has happened since 2001.

What a spread, so to speak.

I love Eggs Benedict...and what's up with the Hollandaise sauce? I couldn't tell if it was a hit or not. It all sounds fantastic, down to the oatmeal craisin cookies! Wow!

the day sounds wonderful, but I do have to ask. What the hell is cinnamon flop????

Karen said...

Wow. You went all out for brunch. I love it!!

I also need to know what cinnamon flop is.

Football - bleah. For entertainment value, I think football falls in between drying paint and a lava lamp. But it can provide a fun excuse to hang out and eat too much.

What an awesome spread! I'm not sure I would have gotten around to taking pictures either with all of the food choices!
Great blog and a awesome menu!

I'm drooling just reading the menu. You sure know how to do brunch!

It's me said...

Add one more to the "what is a flop" (besides my attempt to tell jokes) and be a pal and send the Oatmeal craisin recipe. :)

Great. Your brunch is better than the damned Thanksgiving dinner I'm planning.

What was your address...again? No reason.

Damn! Impressive menu! I'm in awe. I don't like pro football but I'd be tempted with a spread like that!

there's a "stuffed lesbians" joke in there somewhere, but i am way too mature to attempt to dig it up..

Now I've got a semi-serious question here..

It's a well-known fact that "The way to a man's heart is through his stomach".

However, is it also true that the way to a butch ladies' heart is also through the stomach?

Or is it just love of food in general gets everyone worked up?

Curious readers want to know!!

Oh man i'd come just to eat and then flop around watching others play football! Sounds fun!

Spiky Zora Jones said...

sweetie...ha, I wish me and g/f could had been there. her fave team is the Titans. Not because they're 10-0 but because she loves Tennessee and wants to move there.

I wished I had been there cause of the delish food. Yum. You have to ask your girl if she'd give up great grandma's recipe. That sounds yummy.

Ciao babe.
