The BEST Birthday Present

Last year, my Love and I filled out the paperwork to be qualified as Domestic Partners at her work. We finalized our wills, sent in copies of our mortgage and deed, and jumped through numerous hoops to PROVE that we are indeed committed to each other financially.

Yesterday, it went through. I'm officially domestically partnered. And I have an insurance card with both of our names on it to prove it.

Not quite as good as getting married, but close.

Good for you guys! I'm happy for you both.

"Domestically partnered", I guess that's pretty good for a state like Tennessee.

Jay sent me over to wish you a happy birthday. So Happy Birthday!!! I guess more congratulations are in order as well. So Congratulations!!!! I don’t think that it’ll be too much longer before the last of the bigotry is completely eradicated from the US. I’ve been living in Spain for the last year and a half, and it’s a whole lot better over here. I’d hope that within the next generation America will be the same, and within 10 years you will be able to enjoy the same rights as any other human being on the planet! Again, Happy Birthday and Congrats!!!!!!!!

My husband and I had to do that for the medical insurance in order for me to be covered at the company he worked for at that time. They finally added me. We had lived together as man and wife for many years but had to 'prove' it. UGH... like it's any of their business anyway.

We finally did get married after 10 years together so now it's a 'non-issue', but how stupid is it to have to prove you are a couple no matter what sex we happen to be.... just plain UGH.

in the right step
being able to get some legal rights and protection is important.
I feel it would go faster if it was legal union and not legal marriage for wording. Looking for protection by law not religious sanctions. Too many look at marriage as a religious union not legal. Odd huh?
Each of us know where we stand in our own religious beliefs and that is nothing that can be legalized anyway.

YIPPPPEEEE for both of y'all
