Does Anybody Even Care?

Adam Lambert wears makeup, earrings and is damn cute. But is Adam gay?

The rumors are flyin' as pics of someone who looks an awfully lot like him soar around the internet.

I think people are always going to be interested in juicy gossip, but will Adam's sexuality really matter to the people who are voting on American Idol? It's definitely a younger crowd with a totally different mindset than your Baby Boomers.

States are jumping on the "gays are okay" bandwagon. Gays are on television shows regularly....and not portrayed as freaks. It seems to me as though we're becoming more mainstream.

I wonder if the younger generation even cares about individual sexuality?

The only people who care are the homophobes. AI's audience doesn't care, they just want good music. Or "good" by AI's standards. LOL

First of all, is it wrong that I haven't watched AI in over two years and have no idea who this guy was, until now?

But man oh man he is HOT!!!!

And honestly, I don't think the younger generation gives a crap one way or the other (for the most part) which I think is great. I know I don't care who is gay, who isn't, etc. I just want people to be happy together, no matter what gender that other person is. Everyone should have a chance of happiness with the person they love.

I saw the pics online and wondered why it mattered. If young people today would think the same thing, I would be so excited. I think there is a chance. Hopefully times are changing.

Adam is a talented singer and I'm hoping he wins for that reason alone.

I think the younger gen. is much more open and I feel they are our hope that we'll get marriage equality in the future.

Who cares if he is gay or not? I can't believe people still get worked up over something like that. I have high hopes that Obama can help us get past this form of prejudice.

you do wonder when people will truly look past their prejudices and see the individual

I think most younger peopel don't care.

And yes - I think he might be gay.

i don't know who that guy is but i think he's cute!! and i could really care less what he does with his wang.

if my daughter brought him or someone with that same "style" or "image" home one day i would not question his sexuality. that's pretty much what kids look like nowadays. well... actually i think i dated a few guys who wore eyeliner when i was growing up.

but anyway....

being around my friend's older kids, i think the "line" is much more blurred than when i was younger. and that's fine but i'll be totally honest, because i know you will respect it....

i had a HUGE problem with Kattie Perry's "I Kissed A Girl" song being on the Nick Kid's Choice Awards. because i didn't really think that my 8 year old needs to be weighed down with issues such as sexuality AT ALL at her age.

i do not raise my girls to care what others are doing, as far as who they love or spend their life with. but i don't wanna be getting into the details just quite yet! know what i mean?!

i still think that a lot of what the younger generation thinks/feels has to do with where and how they are raised. i'm sure a buncha highs choolers in say... alabama are probably still sitting around on saturday night trying to come up with a way to "deal with that fag who lives down the street". maybe not so much the kids who are living in maybe certain parts of CA or NY. i dont know really, of course, and now I've rambled on completely unnecessarily.

but... it's a complex issue. because society has made it that way.

i'm pretty much a live and let live kinda person. it would be nice if everyone could just be that way and not concern themselves with what others are doing. usually the people who care most waht other people are doing are the ones who are super f-ed up and/or confused themselves.

i dont think kids care a whit anymore....

my neices are always telling me about "their gay friends in highschool"...

it amazes me. When I was in highschool if a kid admitted he was gay he would never have survived the experience... now its not so much of a big deal.

p.s. the pics of adam i have seen have him making out with numerous dudes.. in my mind, hes pretty much outted (and he completely rocks by the way... best idol ever!)

I don't think anyone cares about sexuality these days. Will Young won Pop Idol here then announced he was gay - like we didn't know. It's not made any difference to his popularity.

Hey baby doll, I've always had earrings and nail polish and lipstick...Woo! And the guys and gals liked it. hehehe.

Hey I think he is the guy to bet on to be the next American Idol. If you can get Simon to stand and applaud, you have to get fabulous. the guy is going to be a star either way. As an actor, singer entertainer. I have some songs he would sing wonderfully...hehehe.

Ciao honey.

Oh and BTW...Simon is still building his house down the street from me. Finish it Mister. That's just in case he reads your blog. hehehe.

I agree with what Jay said.

Who really cares. He's got talent..who cares if he has a boyfriend or girlfriend.

ignorance is a big pet peeve.

meow. :) cats flock to my dad and he's not a big fan of them..had to laugh at that post from Monday. :)

Glad to know you're okay. I didn't realize that you were that close. Why did I think you lived in North Carolina..I totally missed that boat and I'm sure you've only mentioned it millions of times..

Sorry. :(

No one cares that I'm hetero.

Really. No one, 'cept the husband maybe. . .

I just don't get why anyone cares who is and who isn't. I have to admit, I don't know who this guy is as I've never, ever watched American Idol. (for shame! I know. . . )

I don't want to boff him either way, so I don't care.

He's a lil cutie, I wondered to if he was, not that it matters.

I know my kids don't have issues with it, as they have gay friends. The only issues they have are that I'm with a woman. (I think thats more their dad bad mouthing it)

Vinny "Bond" Marini said...

I believe he is and that makes no difference to me whatsoever.

I think the only reason it could hurt him is all the tween girls who are in love with him, finding out he is gay may turn them against him in a "I wanted you, you didn't want me, I am upset" kind of way...

I'm with Jay; the only people who care if someone is gay, lesbian or transgenered are the homophobes, resp. the transphobes that will most likely be combined to just phobes of everything out of their world of understanding...

@Diana; make sure you will be the one to tell them something they had not already learned long time ago from the outside world..

My parents were most likely quick/early in giving us the information about sexuality and everything involved, being member of the Society for Sexual Reform, but I do sort of recall not everything to be new, but then on the other hand what I had already heard also to not be fully correct.....

It is better in cities than rural areas. My CG can be open without flaunting. And that seems to be more the answer for her. Of course she does not have a partner and not any hopes of one as long as we are in this area. With the older generation she has to be more careful in hurting peoples opinions. But mostly it is a mute point since she does not talk about her sexuality in public. I wish we were in the city where she had more choices.

meno said...

It would be cool if NO ONE cared, other than his partners.

I find it interesting that more people are concerned about a person's sexuality than they are about whether they wash their hands after going to the bathroom! Seriously ... which one has the potential to cause me more harm?

Not sure they've gotten the word yet in Iowa....

Does being gay or straight really have an effect on his ability to perform or be an impressive artist?

I think not.

Let him showcase his talent, and if he's good enough, let him win.

The issue of his sexuality shouldn't even be remotely brought into this scenario.

I mean, if that were the case, how would Elton John or George Michael or Melissa Etheridge have fared in this type of showcase?

Enough said.

I don't think it matters to the kids.

Now, does it matter to the sponsors? That is the real question

J said...

He's really hot, so I'll let him try and figure it out with me. If he's not straight (and really, who is 100%?) then I'll just sit back and watch.

PS. I don't know if I am considered the 'younger generation' (I'm 27) but I don't think anyone I know cares what anyone else's sexuality is. What's the big deal? Guys or girls, take your pic. You like what you like.

Cloudia said...

Younger folks don't care!
That's why the fanatics are getting dangerously deranged and angry. Next they'll hold their breath till they turn blue, just as Jesus taught....Aloha

Lori said...

Don't watch AI but this guy sure is hot. I sure hope that he isn't judged on something that isn't really anyones business. I do think people are starting to "get it" though.

it's surprising, but there are lots of kids who at least seem homophobic...whether they're just following the crowd, concerned about their own sexuality, or maybe have just been programmed by a heteronormative society, whatever. there's still plenty of gay bashing even among the young, and, suprisingly, an even lower tolerance for it if the people are their parents' ages.

based on what i've heard, i think it has mostly to do with a deep misunderstanding about gay people--specifically, the false assumption that we will sleep with anyone of the same gender, including relatives and people way out of our age range. seriously. i think it's the ick factor that really has to be cleared up and what is at the true center of the hetero controversy about gay marriage and homophobia in general.

I don't even think people think that much about ones sexuality anymore. Not like they used to, that is. I think it's a PR stunt half the time, you know, Are they or aren't they? and then People and Star do huge write-ups with "insider" info. Look at Clay Aiken and Lance Bass. No one would have cared if they just said yes, but they got mass publicity out of it.

Sorry for the book. I'm tired and hungry, which is a lethal combo.

I am the younger generation! And let me say... no it doesn't matter to me whether he is gay or not. He is a FANTASTIC singer! The best that I've seen thus far on American Idol. The personal sexual status of people shouldn't matter. and in my mind it doesn't. Of course, there will be people out there who do care and that is there problem. Sexualality shouldn't be something that makes a person looked down upon. It's just a detail in the big picture. Not the picture itself. [if that makes sense]

I think that is a great picture of Adam. Do I think he is gay? I think he might be. Do I care? Not one bit. Do I think the younger generations is bothered by it? I think they think it is cool Y'all are the new cigarette ha!

I actually want my hair cut like his! Got a picture for the stylist and everything.

Why in hell would your sexual preference make a bit of difference in how talented you are? People are just plain stupid sometimes.

I've a red cell phone (see Dianne above), after 48 years of only being interested in girls, well actually older women, does this mean I have to change?

I've no idea what I was for the first 13 years of my life because sex didn't exist yet.

I haven't watched AI for the last couple of seasons either, but I am thinking that today's youth don't mind much about whether or not someone is gay.
