I know that you all are smarter than I am, so I have a question for you. I'll be flying with my aunt and two uncles in (gasp) two weeks and three days. They made the reservations below.
Now, I can get cranky when I'm in an airport for too long. Especially after being on a long vacation.
I'm seeing a problem with the return flight. Serious problem. There's a 7 HOUR layover in Miami. Doesn't anyone come to TN from MIA anymore?
How can I get around that? Can I switch tickets with another carrier? Will someone fly me on their private lear jet? I'll bake you cookies! Seriously, there HAS TO BE A WAY! Right?
Please God...let one of my readers be a airline brainiac!
Here's my itinerary:

Clueless here sorry, I'd suggest a very good book to read during the time, portable dvd player and a couple good movies.
I've onyl flown once and had a 2 hour layover in Detroit.
Once you land in Miami you can go to the AA desk and ask them if there are any seats available on an earlier flight to Nashville. If there are they might let you go early. You're luggage might not come along with you though. LOL
Or, you could take a cab to the beach and stare at the ladies in their thong bikinis or go get a nice dinner somewhere.
Mama Bear: Thanks for the ideas!
Jay: That's the problem...there are no other flights that I can find that come back earlier that I can make on American. Odd, huh?
I suggest some serious "bar time" in Miami.... :p
Doc: Come on over to the airport...I'll show you my llama!
Stay in Miami for the lay-over, and have a Mojito, a Cuban roast pork sandwich- good ones at airport! Relax- I think that's why they call it a vacation!
Buffalo: I'll have a 6 hour layover on the way down to do all that fun stuff. After two weeks away from my woman, I'll be wanting to get home!!!! :)
Yeah, what Jay said.
...or you can walk. It doesn't take 7 hours to walk from MIA to TN... :P
Have her meet you in Miami! Drive home! We only got X amount of air left to breathe- have adventures!
Rockdog: Yeah, I thought that myself! I could WALK home faster!
Buffalo: I love your style, but I doubt she's going to want to drive 15 hours to Miami to pick me up.
no help here
Doggy: I wish you lived in Miami! I'd come for dinner!
Laptop and you-porn.com. That all I got. Sorry.
Yeah screw that.
I can't imagine staying seven hours in Miami. It was hard enough driving through the damn place on our way to Key West. See if you can get a scenic tour of the city. That should eat up some time and keep you busy. Or take a few sleeping pills. Or stay at the bar. Or both.
Well seeing as how I don't fly I am no help. You could rent a car and drive the 15 hrs home!!!!!!!!!
Ok thats a bad idea.
I got it.
$330.00 + the airport bar= IDGAF about layover?!
I agree with Jay - going to the desk is the best way if you can't change it now! I've done that often and sometimes I've even scored a 1st class upgrade for free!
I always try to avoid Miami's customs. It's hellacious.
Not that THAT helps you. I'm sorry. There's not much that can be done unless you fly another airline.
Boy. I'm a real help here today aren't I?
***shutting up now***
Is there anyway you can come back in through Atlanta or Dallas/Ft.Worth?
I always try to come back in through Atlanta... lots of flights back to TN from there (at least to Knoxville) and often, like every hour or so.
Good luck sweetie!
There flight 536 leaving from Miami to Washington DC at 415PM that day, then from DC to Nashville, a 25 minute lay over between the two flights. If you contact AA now, you can get these tickets, but they are not going to recommended because your arrival and departure to Miami is so close. If you pack light, and have nothing to declare, you can get off the flight and make it to your next flight easy. Most of the time they hold the flight until all passengers have boarded, especially flights from over seas. Just an idea. Good luck!!!
Um...I'm clueless. I've been there a few times...waiting for my flight back to LAX...babes...blog from there. :D
ciao babes...If I hit the Lotto...I'll have my private jet fly you back. :)
I am no help, but I feel your pain. Airports blow.
By the way, you totally rock 24/7! I missed that auction, but caught another! Bless you and your Ebay problem :)
G-man: I'm a youporn virgin. That would definitely keep me busy!
Tink: I KNOW!
Coffeypot: Sleeping pills and alcohol!? LOL Sounds like a good time!
Sage: Excellent point!
Seamus: I'm ALREADY flying first class! How spoiled am I?
Jen: Thanks for coming by! LOL
Diva: I'm just not finding much.
Eric: Hmmm...I'll probably have tons of stuff to declare. Everyone wants an alpaca jacket! So I doubt I could make one that quick. Thanks though. Pouts.
Spiky: Come meet me in MIA! We'll have some fun!
Biscuit: Cool! Glad to help!
hell, I thought this was why airports have bars...
Call American and be pathetic...tell them your story of coming back after being away for 2 weeks and how tired you'll be...is there anyways they can get you home a different way.
That's the only thing I can suggest. The internet is not always reliable and they will be much more able to look at all of the flights and times.
RLL - You'll be in Miami. Surely there's a way to make 7 hours blow by quickly.
However... I don't think you can leave the airport, right?
Rll...I so wish I could. I want to party with you. South Beach/Miami is a party town too.
7 hours! Yikes!
I say buy lots of magazines and make sure that your Ipod is well charged....
I don't have any better suggestions.
=(
Seven Hours!!? Oy Vay. I know where I would be. Face down in the bar. Cheers!!
Do any of your friends have valium? If so, take two and call me in the morning. ;)
When I used to travel for business I would often have interesting flights with similar (looooong) layovers. I used to suffer through them at the airport often creating a mammoth hangover in the process. Then one day I decided to leave! Anything over five hours gives you enough time to get out to see a sight (and back in) or visit a local shopping center, or maybe the beach. The airline will have your luggage so you don't have to worry about that. Enjoy your trip :)
Cancel the second leg, rent a car and drive home...Miami to Nashville - it's only about 900 miles...13 hours..piece of cake...
I would say take the train but Amtrak doesn't stop in Nashville....go figure THAT out...
I think a leisurely dinner is in order here (somewhere OTHER than the airport)
