I Think I Can Handle The Truth

Waaaay back in the day, my best friend dated an older guy. Nowadays, we call them pedofiles. We were 15, he was 26. He was incredibly cool, or so we thought.

My love and I just had a conversation about codes in songs. On the radio played, "The Other Woman" by Ray Parker Jr. He sings...

I'm in love with the other woman
My life was fine (Yes it was)
Till she blew my mind

That's when I brought up how my best friend's boyfriend had told us what "blew my mind" was "code" for. My Love says ain't no such thing.

Now, I'm feeling like I've been duped by Mr. Pedofile. Was he just wanting a BJ or is it code for a BJ?

Someone tell me the truth!

Blow your mind is a phrase indicating an unbelievable experience. well according to wikipedia

so you would have to ask him to see if it was an unbelievable experience.

You know, we pedophiles really prefer to be called father figures...

Too funny skyler's dad.

I have to go with Karen on this...it was code for a bj.

LOL @ SkylersDad!! I'm totally stealing that line. ;-)

I've never thought of the expression "blew my mind" as having a sexual meaning. At least not strictly. I've heard the phrase used to describe all kinds of great experiences.

Hi baby doll. I don't think it means a blow job. I was used by one who was 'greatly impressed' by another person, place, or thing.

example: "Have you seen the Grand Canyon? It really blew my mind."

*Voice of Billy Crystal*

Can you dig it?..I knew you could.

hehehe. Ciao babes.

Oh, now I knew it meant a thing of great impression...but he also said that in songs it meant a BJ.

Skyler's Dad...you're too funny!

I guess that I'm still a little bit of a sexual dunce.

I shot Pellegrino out my nose when I read THAT!

Older men creep me out. Even when I was 15 they creeped me out.

Ummmm...and I have no answer to your question. :)

I think in terms of music "blew my mind" is in a grey area. In some songs, absolutely, it means BJ. In this one, I'm not so sure.

Good God you people are funny. I am going to plagiarize all over the place!

Oh and male inuendo = a blow job, without a doubt.

Hmm. That one went over my head, too!

To put your mind at rest RLL, yes, in the 80's AND 90's the code was "Blew my mind" for BJ.

Don't believe me? It was quite the catchprase for a while with MANY different songs.

C&C Music Factory's "Things That Make You Go 'Hmmm'" song has the phrase in it.

Ray Parker Jr. Same deal.

There are others, but I've got those two songs now rattling in my head, and can't think of any others right off.

Go listen to a few other good tunes, and I'm sure you'll catch the phrase a few times while having some good flashbacks!

Never have I put 'blow my mind' with BJ

to me it is just an incredible experience that makes you go WOAH!

It has more of a drug connotation to it than sexual...

What's a bj?

This post reminded me of a creepy senior in high school that stalked me when I was in 7th grade. At the time I thought it was so cool, and now I am SO creeped out every time I think of it. I was a tiny, tiny gymnast with NO figure at the time- and he was a big wrestler.

jesus. I'm still disgusted.

I'm 61 and I've been hearing the term, blew my mind since the 60's. I have never once taken it to mean a bj. It's the big head that's being blown, not the little one.
