I Am Desperate...

to put up my Christmas decorations. And apparently, I'm not alone. I'm seeing people's houses lit up like never before!

I want to light up mine. Red it up. Deck my halls, get festive and totally in the spirit.
But my love says it's too early. Scrooge.

Tell me....is it too early? Yes or no.

Dearest RLL♥Luv,
Myself, I don’t observe X-Mass. But your Love is quite right, it’s much too early. As much as I know, the Germans and British start with a decent ‘Advent’ decoration for weeks before their Holiday but the X-Mass decoration for the home at earliest two weeks before. Everything is commercially artificially pushed. Season greetings will follow soon enough.
Tenderly,
Nadja

Personally I think its too early....but I've noticed more and more houses being decorated. I think because of the economic conditions people just need something to make them feel happy. So, I say....go ahead. The stores will all be decked out in another week anyway. (black Friday). Enjoy enjoy.

It's too early, unless you live north of the Mason Dixon line and you'll likely be doing it in the snow if you don't get it done before Thanksgiving. And even then, lights should not be turned on until AFTER Thanksgiving!

We always wait until after Thanksgiving. One holiday at a time!

Never too early. Especially if she's under the tree.

absolutely not too early. I started making some new tree garlands last night and want to have my tree(s) unpacked and organized this weekend in preparation for the Thanksgiving (e.g., giving thanks for the Christmas season) decorating fest coming next week! ps, where can I get one of those Santa suits? -Diane

Go for it! I've always decorated for Christmas on Black Friday, but if you want to start now why not?

With the year many have had, I think it's quite appropriate to put them up a bit earlier this year. My tree makes me smile and i'll do anything for a smile... well most anything. I'm doing turkey day shopping tomorrow and the 6 week rush begins. LOVE IT.

GO FOR IT, PUT UP YOUR LIGHTS... you only live in the moment your in. Hugs Tammy

I love hear that you're so excited. I like to wait until the day after Thanksgiving, but only because it's kind of been my tradition. But I say - as early as possible! Yay!

Being to totally oblivious guy that I am, I'd have to say that I have absolutely NO clue as to when it's kosher or not to put up said decorations.

I mean, I thought that it was brilliant when I went past a house on Halloween that was half decorated for Halloween, and half decorated for Christmas.. Don't you think so? Get both decorations done, and call it good until next year!

Personally, I just wait and do what the boss tells me to for decorations. Once I get the "go up and get the *insert holiday* decorations out of the attic, would you?" then I know it's time to decorate for that holiday.

I guess you could say that I defer to a higher power and authority than my own, couldn't you?

Never ever put up Christmas decoration until after Thanksgiving. It's just way too tacky. I know that vulgar commercial interests are pushing it earlier and earlier each year, but that doesn't mean that we have to follow their lead. They were putting up Christmas decorations in the stores here, before Halloween!

I say do it. Fuck it. If it makes you happy, go for it. And if you're REALLY concerned about the neighbors thinking you're ::makes crazy circles around ear::: then decorate the inside first and leave the outer decor until after Turkeyday.
