My first girlfriend. Tonight, on my way home from the gym it all came rushing back to me.
With the windows rolled down and the A/C on, the mix of cool and warm air blew against my face. I was whisked back to my senior year of high school. Riding around in her jeep on Friday nights. Saying we were going to the football game, but just driving instead. To nowhere. With no place to be. No one wanting anything. No one needing anything. Just the two of us.
Summer nights, freedom and youth.
Tell me about yours.....

I did not have my first girfriend untill I was in the Air force.I was too shy of a guy I guess. I meet her during a ride on my motocycle with a couple of buddies we stopped for gas and were asked if we were headding down town and could she catch a ride.I was the first one to say yes.We ended up at the USO.I meet a different girl there and fell head over heels for her.She became my First Mrs.Golch.
In college sitting in my dorm room with him pretending to study, but really just taking any chance to be together. I failed 2 classes that semester because I couldn't think about anything, but how amazing he was.
I was in a high school play with her, and didn't notice she liked me because I was too into some other girl that didn't know I was alive. I finally woke up.
Those were the days. Driving with he windows down and the music blasting full blast. Then finding a really dark area out in the boonies to just hang out and stare up at the stars and talk and, stuff. ;-)
...through the Santa Cruz mountains, on the way to the beach, deep in the redwood forest...
Driving along the north shore of LI along the sound...the twisting roads and then the quiet little pull offs in the woods...
My first boyfriend and I were big Beatles fans and listened to their records in his bedroom. We still are, and still do listen to them but in our lounge now. :)
Same scenario, except with the 1st love, Myles, my car, and long empty Wisconsin roads. It was the one place we knew we could just drive and be left alone.
You had the windows down while running the a/c? What, are you trying to refrigerate the neighborhood?
I'm old and cranky now and don't remember those days. "Hey, you kids, get off my lawn!"
Why oh why is it that I keep hearing "Summer Loving" from the Grease soundtrack while reading all of this??
Is it just me??
Hmmm...my first g/f. Well, I've only had the one, and still have her ;). Met her 8 years ago on the net.
My 1st boyfriend was a douche...of course that was after the fact. But before the knowing of his doucherey, I thought he was fantastic. Yes, we'd ride around and ride around town making the "8"...no worries, no money, no anything and it was a good time in my life.
My first girl wasn't the best situation. Into things I shouldn't have been but we learn and go on with life. Now happy and clean :-)
Some of the best outings of youth for me were just driving without plan or purpose other than to be away - often taking unfamiliar roads to see if we could actually get lost!
My boyfriend and I used to climb up the water tower at night and just hang out at the top. Sounds more romantic than it was...I was always thinking, "Holy shit, I hope I don't fall to my death on the way down!" when I was making out with him under the stars.
I was playing in the football game then after that it was beer and whatever chicks were around that night, hank jr playing loud, bonfire, someone fighting, someone playing with someone elses girls friend, trying to hook up.
those were the days for sure.
Love.This.
I didn't really have a first girlfriend. I just fell in love with a girl and kept her.
ha. First girlfriend. I had almost forgotten her. I was 16, and a slow starter. She was 14 but way more experienced than I was. She only went out with boys my age and older, preferably who had cars.
It didn't last too long, she dumped me for someone "more mature".
But she woke up my sex drive, nothing was ever the same after that.
Summers nights in a campground...
dirt roads hand in hand
boat docks, feet swinging in the water
dark tents, giggles and touch
"Summer nights, freedom and youth"......
Wish I could capture some of that now!
My best summer memories involve Springsteen music and as much time spent on the Jersey Shore as we could....
my College Girl has an 86 ford mustang less any a/c
this summer riding around with hot air blowing in and listening to the roar of the engine
yeah back to high school riding out to the lake to 'swim' all day.
took me back
