Chely Wright, Welcome to the Outside of the Closet

I had a crush on her back when I thought she was straight. She positively sizzles. And she's a lesbian. Rowr!

Thanks for coming out, Chely. And she's right, the quiet haters are the worst.

You should definitely do a post sometime on why the quiet haters are the worst. I'd think that the ones waving a bible and chainsaw screaming "I'll kill you all in the name of Jesus" would be the worst because they probably spit a little when they rant, but then again what do I know. I'm completely normal and don't have to deal with such things.

Good for her! the country music scene needs to get real. I'm sure there are others. Maybe this will inspire them to come out too.

i have a similar post about chely wright. i was very touched by many of the things she said. did you see the comment that john rich made about gays in country music? it was absolutely sickening. i applaude chely's bravery in coming out in such a homophobic atmosphere.

Oh yay! I love her! :) It is about time country music got over the stigma, Im so excited to see who else follows suit and is finally true to themselves! :)

Funny, I never really liked her until she came out. Now? She's freaking hawt! LOL ;-)

BTW, I had actually thought about doing a guest post here about her. I'll think of something else, I guess. ;-)

Wow, she is gorgeous! I didn't know who she was until I saw this story. That's the story of my life, day late and a dollar short.

I'm with Jay. She wasn't in my consciousness until I read this post. Now I'm looking forward to hearing her sing from her true soul. BTW I am NOT a country fan.

@ Steven

Well Steven, If I had to guess by looking at your picture, I would say you were a very big ZZ Top fan, but that would be very presumptuous of me, and I would almost assuredly be totally wrong!

I look forward to the day when a beautiful or famous or usual woman being a lesbian does not make the papers, or web, or tv "news"; when it's not news at all.

When you meet someone do you always think: Is he or she hetro or homo?

ZZtop is OK. But I'm more of a Flogging Molly kinda guy. :-)

Actually, I'm in Nashville and haven't heard a word about it. I saw it on AOL of all places. I think she'll be surprised how welcomed she is. Nashville is pretty diverse because of all of the outsiders that move here for their dreams.

Jay, you can totally do her again. And there's always Christina Aguillera's new video. Or the lesbian that may owe the ROTC $80,000 after coming out. Or Cher's um, son. Or how Red Roof Inns is partnering with us gays via the IGLTA. Geez, you'd think we'd have driven down the road and found a better place, but hey it's a start.

Red Roof Inn? :-( Better bring a comfortable chair, or at least a cushion, unless you like sitting on a hard, straight back wooden chair. Back when Hurricane Isabel knocked my power out for a week, I stayed in a Red Roof Inn to save a few dollars. It was so uncomfortable I only lasted one night. The next day I went across the street to the Holiday Inn.

Pretty chica. Btw, now that more folks are coming out, it seems there's more balance in the world. Enjoy your crush...and I'd love to read a guest post from Jay about her! :)
