Squeeze A Titty for Me...or Two!

40,000 Women Will Die This Year From Breast Cancer

This past week, I've been waiting to hear from one of my friends. She went for a mammogram. They called her back for a second one. Something odd was on the film.

My heart sank.

My aunt had both of her breasts removed. My grandmother had one of hers removed. It's brutal. Both to go through and to look at.

I can't imagine my life without this woman in it. I speak to her daily and I adore her.

Today, the results came back that it's a cyst. They think. She's going to have the cysts removed because her aunt died from breast cancer. She understands the risk.

I've added a link to the right of my site to fund free mammograms for women that need them. They are important to someone in their lives, too.

My Grand Mother had one breast removed, cancer, beat it. Had colon cancer, beat it. Finally lost the fight to brain cancer.

I know a lot of women who don't go in and get mammograms and I worry about that. They need to stay on top of those things.

Glad your friend is having early treatment. I do hope that everything goes well.

my thoughts are with your friend.

i just added that clicker this week also :)

I will be adding a clicker myself. All this cancer shit needs to be cured. Lost BOTH my folks to it, it'd be nice if one day we could all raise a middle finger to THAT particular bunch of diseases.

It's a rare person that doesn't know someone that has had this disease. I actually had a male neighbor die of it. Really.

I had my very first mammogram earlier this year.... it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be. It's too bad there's such a fear factor that comes along with it.

Best of luck to your friend. Cheers!!

good JuJu going out to you friend.
Hope it isn't to bad.

My grandmother and great grandmother both died of breast cancer. It's a scary thought.

My best thoughts/wishes go out to your friend.

Mammograms are not as bad as your mother told you! It doesn't hurt; no it's not very comfy, but a little "squeeze" for a "life". There's no comparison!

Thoughts and prayers to your friend.

They are so very important! My grandmother (father's mother) had her breast removed because of breast cancer and from what I understand, that gene is passed through your father's side. It gives me a good excuse to touch boobs anyway...good times! :)

I had an aunt who lost her battle with breast cancer, many years ago, and a friend, just a couple of years ago, who lost her partner to it. Sadly, we will continue to loose too many women senselessly, until mammograms and treatment become affordable for all. Sending good vibes your and your friend's way!

I'm glad it was a cyst and nothing worse. Something no one should have to go through.

I'm glad Buffulodick touched on the men. While the percentages are much lower, guys get breast cancer to and shouldn't think it's just a womans issue. We all need to be aware of it.

I hate cancer!

I do hope it is only cysts for your friend.

I always have my mammograms and check myself every day!

Thank goodness it was a cyst. My mom's cousin recently passed from breast cancer leaving 4 children - 3 of them still very young.

Cancer in any form is brutal.

After my first baby I had a cyst removed. It was harmless but I just didn't like it being there. I'd always be thinking about it. Now there's just a tiny white scar that I usually forget about. But it's enough of a reminder to check.

I hit the link for your ladies. I have a Breast Cancer link on my site for others to help donate too. What a great way to help.

Thanks for the reminder.

My prayers go out to your friend! ....

I had a scare a few years back because I found a huge round lump that didn't move on my left breast. The doctor came in, checked me, then brought his partner in and he checked me----rushed me over to get a mammogram and ultrasound. It was cysts.

I still have the lump, but they said that I didn't have to go back for another mammogram till I'm 40.

?

I never understood that logic because I thought once a scare, you should get checked regularly, no?

They insisted that some women just have cystic breasts and it's nothing to worry about.

I hope that's the case for your friend.

I am still getting checked though. Always best to detect it before it's too late.

{{hugs}}

*throwing positive vibes your way*

I get my titties squeezed regularly, thank you :) I always get the old motherly tech. Why why why aren't there any hottie techs? I mean, if you're gonna manhandle my mammaries, you might as well be nice to look at.

I know how you feel sweets. My g/f...had a test and waited to tell me after her second test...she was okay.
after she told me...I cried in relief. we have to keep up on this...

later sweetie.

I'd like to add a vote for colonoscopy after you are 50. I have had mammograms and had cancer when I finally got a coloscopy. It was early, and appears to be gone, but colonoscopy if you are over 50. Maybe do them on the same day or in the same week.

Greg C said...

That is a catchy title but so many women don't follow that advice. So sad since it is treatable if it is caught early. My father died from Prostrate cancer because he refused to go to the doctor when he knew something was wrong. I keep thinking he would be here today if only he had gone to be checked out early. Great reminder.

I'm glad it is a cyst and hope that is the end of it for her. Well the end of ominous thought at least.

My mother died from breast cancer. She let it go, she never went for a mammo. She fell into a coma and by then it was everywhere. 6 months in the hospital.

I have two "funny" spots (they're a laugh riot) on my right breast so I get them squished every 6 mos. So far so good.

Thanks for talking about this.

I'm sorry I missed Monday's post. I would have a lot to say starting with I've seen the vlog - No You Are Not and then saying So What If You Are. You're healthy and happy. Yes?

Personally (I've seen your vlog) I think you're gorgeous.

I have nightmares often about this, which is why I got my booty in to get a blood test, and why I'm taking such extreme measures to take care of it. I hope and pray that by the time my daughter is old enough to worry about it, it will be a thing of the past.

Good luck to your friend, I hope all is OK.

Sending good thoughts to your friend.

Breast cancer has cursed many people in my life.

I lost mom to cancer, just when she'd beat one, another popped up.

Thank you for reminding us.

Great Post!
I look forward to getting my exams done. I am so into "Preventive" exams that I even schedule a ultrasound at six months in between exams and pay out of pocket. Okay, I'm a hypochondriac!

Rick Rockhill said...

good post- people need to keep awareness of this!

Ann said...

I hope your friend is okay and that cyst turns out to be just that. Sending good thoughts!!!

This disease is a cold hearted bastard, touching millions of lives worldwide. I've seen it in my own family too. Fortunately it was caught in time in both instances and both ladies are leading healthy productive lives as a result of medical technologies.

Praying for your friend that this will be taken care of without complication.

I had a mammogram last year, I was scared. The out come was good, not every woman is so lucky. My best friend had a lump removed, she had chemo, radiotherapy.. she was ill. She's still here with us all. A success story. I love your blog... I think you're gorgeous... by the way, just wanted to tel you..

We went through the cyst scare about 15 years ago in this household. They were benign and we were grateful. We never miss an opportunity to encourage our three girls to do their self exams and get regular mammograms.

She's currently trying to recover from a second go after the cancer came back. They had to take her breast plus some this time.

Her boyfriend is currently giving updates on her situation, but she's having a really, really hard go.

If you can send some traffic her way, she'd be absolutely ecstatic... if she recovers. I'm pulling for her.

"...it's a cyst. They think."

"They think." <- that's precious, it seems all doctors do is "think." What ever happened to "determining"?
