A New "Friend"

I receive a text from a good buddy of mine, that's been here plenty for dinner parties,

"I have a new "friend" that is coming to town this weekend and I'm cooking dinner, any suggestions?"

I'm thinking light, just in case it leads to something more than dinner. But, still impressive enough that it lets her know that she's special.

"Grilled steak au poivre with roasted veggies."

What was the best meal that anyone has ever made for you? One of my first dates made me steak with broccoli and maitre d' butter. I still remember her for that!

If

Then I can not agree more with

"Grilled steak au poivre with roasted veggies."

I do so much of the cooking and have throughout my adult years, but I also think a linguini with sauteed (all together in some olive oil) chicken (cubed), peppers (red and/or green - sliced lengthwise), onions (diced), mushrooms sliced - or your favorite mixture of veggies - once pasta is done drain BUT keep some of the pasta water reserved...toss the chicken/veggies with the linguini and add some of the pasta water to keep moist.

Serve with a side salad and some crusty warm bread

Just another light idea...

I have a vivid and fond memory of a quite attractive Blond feeding me King Crab w/melted butter and lemon and a wonderful wine.
I take the Fifth on what was for dessert.

My man made me a pot roast and potatoes. I'm a 'meat and potatoes girl' so he knew just where to "get" me. He's also done home-made waffles, beanless chili (don't like beans), and his mom's special oatmeal cookies.

He's a keeper 'cause I don't cook!

I think food that you eat with your fingers is terribly sexy. It's way too early to have the kind of steamy thoughts i'm having... have a wicked time!

Thanks for the lovely comment.

Sunday lunch with all the trimmings including Yorkshire pudding. MWM made it for me after I had coached him for weeks in preparation for me having a major operation which took me out of action for 3 months. :)

Sometimes posts go in a direction you never expect. I got a little sad when I realized that no one (other than my family) has ever gone out of their way to make a special meal for me ...

I have a good friend who visits and we split the meals between going to restaurants and having her cook. She's an awesome cook with dishes ranging from Hungarian goulash to some of the more ambitious Japanese recipes in my Kurihara cookbooks. Friends like that are great, albeit fattening.

The best meal Laundry Fairy ever did for me was the first one, in her flat. We had only been out for 2 dates before that and then she cooked me this terrible meal of fishfingers and oven chips.
But even then I knew it was significant and ate as much as I could. Because she can't cook. She is not a domesticated woman. She is a wild untamed dangerous woman. So it meant a lot that she was cooking me this terrible meal.

One of the best meals that I had was in Cape Cod on a camping trip. It was very fresh and wiggly lobster, with fresh bluebarries. It was so simple, yet one of the tastiest meals because of the fresh ingredients.

I do the cooking, and few wish to compete- so no free food for me!

That sounds like a lovely meal! I'd be very impressed.

Best meal ever from a lover - chicken & dumplings. Yum!

I just made an Italian Pot Roast in the crock pot, then made polenta & garlic green beans. Crock pot did the work, I got to visit, it was impressive and everyone loved it! Strawberry cake w/ chocolate frosting for dessert was yummy too!
Blessings

PS No one cooks for me, they make me cook :)
